BUS WARS
Kings Worthy Parents against the removal of school buses from Kings Worthy to Henry Beaufort School
For decades, the bus from Kings Worthy to Henry Beaufort has been a lifeline for our children. But this Easter, Hampshire County Council plans to withdraw that service, claiming a "new" walking route makes it redundant.
We know the truth is different. This video below has been created by the Kings Worthy Parent Action Group to show the reality that doesn't appear on a council spreadsheet. While the Council claims the route is "safe and available," our community—along with our local MP, the Headteacher, the Chair of Governors, and an independent Health & Safety expert—strongly disagrees.
Watch: Safety Before Spreadsheets
Our short campaign video captures the true nature of the proposed 3-mile trek our 11-year-olds are expected to make. It highlights:
The Physical Hazards: Unlit rural bridges, mud-clogged fields, and dangerous crossings on blind bends.
The "Human Factor": Why teenagers in groups with heavy bags and distractions cannot be compared to a lone adult engineer.
The Logical Flaws: Why the Council’s "12-mile-a-day" accompaniment loophole is an impossible burden for working families.
The Professional Consensus: The voices of the experts who have walked the walk and warned that this transport should not be withdrawn.
Our Mission
We are not just fighting for a bus; we are fighting for the safety and wellbeing of 183 children. We are calling on the Council to reverse this decision and to work with us on a shared, sustainable solution that doesn't leave our children to the questionable safety of an unlit field.
Stand with us at the Deputation on 26 February at 9:30 am. Together, we can ensure that student safety always comes before marginal savings.
